When a California medical marijuana dispensary was raided last Thursday by agents of the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency and local police, the Los Angeles Times ran a dramatic story on the incident, accompanied by a set of photographs. However, one particular photograph from the Times story has drawn more attention than anything else.

On Friday, August 1, The Agitator blog posted the following: “Bruce Mirken of the Marijuana Policy Project sends the photo below. It’s from a series of L.A. Times photos from a federal raid on a medical marijuana clinic in California. I wouldn’t draw too many conclusions from it. But it is a little disconcerting.”
So disconcerting, apparently, the L.A. Times pulled this particular photo from its slideshow and fed it into the memory hole.

The informant, who had a background as a self-taught chemist, had been released from a Colombian prison in March of that year, after being arrested by Colombian police on narco-trafficking-related charges.
