US has no reason to doubt Pakistan: White House
Washington has no reason to doubt Pakistan’s assertion that it was not involved in the recent deadly attacks in Mumbai, the White House said Monday as US intelligence experts probed the militant operation.
“I’ve heard nothing that says that the Pakistani government was involved,” spokeswoman Dana Perino told reporters, adding that US President George W. Bush was briefed in the White House situation room on the Mumbai attacks.
Asked if the United States trusted them to fully investigate the issue, she said: “We have no reason not to right now,” she said.
“The intelligence community is still assessing all aspects of the attacks, the motivation, the plotting and planning, and the operational details of it,” she said of the three-day siege that left more than 170 dead including six Americans, and which India is blaming on Pakistani militants.
