“In the wake of Prop 8 millions of gays and lesbians all over the country have decided that we’re no longer going to play by the old rules. We’re not going to let people kick our teeth down our throats and then run and hide behind “Nothing personal — just my private religious beliefs!” That game’s over.”
- The UN Security Council has approved a plan to hand over security duties in Kosovo to a European Union force.
- A suicide car bomb blew up near the US embassy in the Afghan capital Kabul Thursday, killing at least four people and wounding several more, police and witnesses said.
- Amnesty International USA Under Fire for Its Support of “Plan Mexico”: At an Amnesty International event Monday, a public gathering of the Ethical Culture Society, a 15 year Amnesty International activist drew attention to the group’s support of the Merida Initiative. Also known as Plan Mexico, this military aid package arms the Mexican army and police involved in the murder and arrest of activists in Oaxaca and Chiapas and the massacres in Atenco.
- Czech senators approve US shield:The upper house of the Czech parliament has backed US plans to install part of a missile defence shield on Czech soil.
