Moscow, Jun 21 (Prensa Latina) The active presence at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is one of Russia’s top foreign policy priorities in the Asia-Pacific region, diplomatic sources affirmed Saturday.
With the outstanding participation of other member States such as Kazakhstan and China, the SCO has become a key element in the regional and international policy in last years, a release from the Russian chancellery affirmed.
The Organization, founded in 2001, is undergoing a process for the strengthening of interactive mechanisms among its members, and a rational use of collective reserves, for the development of Eurasia and the Pacific zone.
Referring to current geopolitics, former Russian President Vladimir Putin noted it is indispensable to pay attention to the new political pole emerging in the world with the leadership of China, Russia, and nations such as India.
Russia, as co-founder member State, is preparing a plan of concrete actions and measures to be fulfilled as part of the SCO chairmanship in the 2008-2009 period.
