First thing this morning and I’ve got the tv on, watching Chris Hayes on MSNBC, waiting to see if the announcement will be made formally. I’ve heard that an announcement should be made somewhere around 9am eastern. So, yeah, waiting.
I’ve got to agree with everything coming down the pike so far about this decision. It shows Romney is still so insecure about his base, and that he’s beholden to them – probably to a degree that should concern everybody. It also shows a general fear of the smashing Romney’s taking, not only from his opponent in the White House, but amongst the Republican party. It shows he’s scared shitless.
Other than Bachmann or some other right wing loon, the Democrats couldn’t have been granted a better gift than Ryan as VP.
UPDATE: 9:21 eastern time – yep, that’s official, just watched Romney declare it on MSNBC
UPDATE: Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney tapped Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin as his vice presidential running mate on Saturday, turning to the architect of a conservative and intensely controversial long-term budget plan to remake Medicare and cut trillions in federal spending. Romney made his announcement to supporters via a phone app. “Mitt’s Choice for VP is Paul Ryan,” it said and implored backers to spread the word.
• Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has picked Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan to be his running mate, according to a Republican with knowledge of the development. They will appear together Saturday in Norfolk, Va., at the start of a four-state bus tour to introduce the newly minted GOP ticket to the nation.
• I woke up this morning to the reek of piss-pants desperation emanating from my Twitter in the form of Mitt Romney’s VP Pick, Paul Davis Ryan (and yes, it is happening, because those morons can’t keep a secret). Man, this tells us a lot about just how worried, weak, meandering, insular and politically inept the Romney campaign is.
