Crazy Sheriff Joe Arpaio facing FBI investigation for abusing his power by arresting his critics.

The FBI is looking into accusations that Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is using his position to settle political vendettas.

Over the past year, 5 Investigates examined more than two dozen complaints against the sheriff from business owners, government workers, mayors and law-enforcement officials.

They claim they spoke out against Arpaio, and shortly after, deputies paid them unwelcome visits.

Afghanistan
The Afghan minister of counter narcotics says foreign troops are earning money from drug production in Afghanistan. General Khodaidad Khodaidad said the majority of drugs are stockpiled in two provinces controlled by troops from the US, the UK, and Canada, IRNA reported on Saturday. He went on to say that NATO forces are taxing the production of opium in the regions under their control.

Russia
Russian investigators say a heavy-lift military cargo plane has crashed on takeoff in Siberia, killing all 11 crew members on board. The four-engine Il-76 was flying from Mirny in the Sakha Republic to the city of Irkutsk. Investigators say the plane was only 50 feet (15 metres) off the ground when it tilted to the right and crashed to the ground, exploding on impact. The plane’s fuel tanks were full. The aircraft belonged to the Interior Troops of Russia’s Interior Ministry. Rescuers have found flight recorders.

Russia and US
Russia and the United States are on track to sign a new deal to reduce their arsenals of nuclear weapons by the time a previous agreement expires next month, a Kremlin aide said at a policy conference in Morocco. The Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty known as START-1 runs out on December 5 and negotiators have been working to prepare a new detailed treaty to be signed by the two nations’ leaders.

Iraq
A mortar attack has targeted a US military base in Western Iraq, causing seven consecutive explosions, an Iraqi source has said. The base in the city of Ramadi, 85 kilometers west of Baghdad, was attacked on Saturday, the source told DPA.

Iran and China
A cargo ship registered by Iran has ran aground in the mouth of China’s Yangtze river and is in danger of capsizing, Chinese media say. The Zoorik, with 36 crew members on board, ran aground in heavy weather at the mouth of china’s longest river early Sunday morning. A report form China Central Television said all the crew have been rescued during a rescue mission conducted by the country’s transport ministry.
